Immune boosting drinks

Our top warm, immune boosting drinks

Well, the cold weather has definitely kicked in!

We've added a few of our favourite warming drink recipes that will help keep the winter blues (and bugs) away!

Start your day right.

To start your day off on the right foot, we've all heard about drinking a cup of warm water with lemon juice. We like to also add about a teaspoon of fresh grated ginger to our brew for a big dose of antioxidants, vitamin C, and other immunity-boosting compounds. Add some honey for extra germ fighting support if you feel like you are getting a cold (see below for more details). This one is the perfect for cleansing the whole system.

Chai me.

A traditional Indian tea, your standard chai is a blend of black or green tea, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, clove, and fennel. All these herbs add up to a whole lot of beneficial compounds that enhance immune cells, energise cellular mitochondria for greater energy and vitality, directly fight bacteria and viruses in the body, and reduce chronic inflammation. Just be sure to choose an unsweetened version and avoid those powders which don't hold any of the same benefits. A Tumeric/Golden Latte is also a great addition to your afternoon tea ritual.

Game, set, matcha!

We all know the benefits of green tea. Well, Matcha is a powdered form of green tea, and has the same immune-pumping ingredients but in 10 times the concentration. Matcha is brewed the same was as Chai and can be mixed with a variety of milk options depending on your tolerance levels. A great option for a non coffee pick me up, we don't recommend this one before bed.

Honey

A rich dark honey is a great way to boost your immunity. No wonder it was such a go to for our mums, and their mums before them. A great addition to any of the drinks above, remember a darker, local honey is always going to offer more benefits than a high processed supermarket version.

What's your favourite winter drink? We'd love to know!
